Should I worry about my dog getting fat from too many marrow bones?

I would not recommend giving this to Bruno every day. That's because too many treats will cause him to gain weight, which is not healthy. When dogs are overweight, they are at risk of diabetes, heart problems, and excess stress on the joints among other health issues. In addition, I am not a fan of bones for dogs, even uncooked ones. That's because they can break teeth when a dog is chewing on them, and can cause GI obstruction. If you would like to give Bruno a chew bone, I would make it a very rare treat to protect his health.

I would not recommend feeding cooked bones, and it’s best to avoid raw bones as well. Cooked bones can splinter and cause an obstruction, constipation or diarrhea. Raw bones could cause an obstruction as well and could result in food borne illness.

I'm not a fan of these types of chews. They can be swallowed whole and could cause internal injuries or obstructions. Dried marrow would regain its "texture" once moistened with your dog's saliva. If you do decide to get these, make sure they are of appropriate size and monitor Echo when he is chewing one. Replace it if/when it becomes small enough to fit entirely in his mouth.

I don't feel it's safe and it's not worth the risks to the dog. If you do decide to give one to Maya, I would monitor her the entire time she is chewing on it, making sure she doesn't swallow large pieces of it whole. I hope this helps!

Never feed cooked bones to your dog, they easily splinter in the GI tract causing perforation and obstruction. I personally never recommend feeding bones to a dog because they do break teeth, but if you want to feed these to Cody, feed them raw thawed.

You want to make sure it's large enough to be a rounded surface, rather than a flat one that your dog is chewing on (based on their mouth size).
