What is this lump on my boxer's bottom lip? When should I see a vet?

Any suspicious lumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of its cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. Once the cause of the lump is diagnosed, the vet can discuss treatment options if needed. I'd give Lilly's vet a call in the morning to make her an appointment.

I would recommend having this spot examined by your veterinarian. Boxers are prone to developing tumors, especially mast cell tumors and it is possible that this spot on his nose is something like a mast cell tumor. Other more benign tumors are possible, or it may be an area of infection or a granuloma. Your veterinarian may want to take a sample using a needle (fine needle aspirate) to examine under the microscope and help determine what this mass might be.

I'm sorry to hear Molly has a growth. I would recommend she be seen by her regular veterinarian. Boxers are predisposed to a type of skin cancer known as a mast cell tumor. Your regular veterinarian should be able to determine with a needle aspirate if this bump is a mast cell tumor or not, and the necessary next steps to take. As they are curative if caught and removed early, I would recommend she be seen as soon as you can to determine if it is a problem for her or not. Good luck!

Hello If possible a photograph of this lump would be helpful. It could be a lipoma (a harmless fatty tumor) but Boxers are known for developing mast cell tumors on their skin. Those types of tumors need to be removed as they can cause issues with the GI tract and even anaphylactic reactions.

I see what you mean. Keep an eye on it over the weekend, and if it's still there on Monday, have Logan seen by a vet. If it gets bigger, he starts bleeding from his nose, or he has trouble breathing have him seen by an ER vet.

This could be caused by trauma (biting his lip) or it could be an early mass or even an infected gland. You could monitor its size and shape every day to every few days and if it hasn't changed Jax could be ok just to watch it until his next veterinary visit.

This can be caused by an infection, which may have resulted from a small cut. While Kona is pretty young, it is possible that the bump is a small tumor, and it can be removed to determine if it is benign (not harmful) or malignant (likely to spread). It is concerning that the bump has gotten bigger over time, so I recommend having her seen by a vet. You can get her an E-collar or "cone" to prevent her from scratching or rubbing the area.
