My dog has a weird bump on his lower lip.

This could be caused by trauma (biting his lip) or it could be an early mass or even an infected gland. You could monitor its size and shape every day to every few days and if it hasn't changed Jax could be ok just to watch it until his next veterinary visit.

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your question. Based on the photo, it is difficult to say for sure what this could be but I suspect this may be a cyst or a swelling due to trauma. If Finn bumped his lip on something, this could be swollen because of that. This may also be an insect bite causing swelling. I would keep in eye on this for the next 24 hours and if it does not resolve, I would recommend taking Finn to a veterinarian to have this examined so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Hello. This does not look too alarming at all. Just check on it every now & then & see if it seems to be changing, growing,etc. But at this point, I would not recommend doing anything except watchful waiting. thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be a benign or malignant growth. There is no way of knowing what it is just based on its appearance. This could even be an abscess or infected lesion. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. This can be caused by an infection, which may have resulted from a small cut. While Kona is pretty young, it is possible that the bump is a small tumor, and it can be removed to determine if it is benign (not harmful) or malignant (likely to spread). It is concerning that the bump has gotten bigger over time, so I recommend having her seen by a vet. You can get her an E-collar or "cone" to prevent her from scratching or rubbing the area. My dog has a solid bump on his lip that's getting bigger. Is it cancer?

Hello there, This appears to be a small skin growth on Niklaus' chin. I would recommend having him seen by his regular veterinarian this week for an exam. They can take a small needle aspirate of the lump (fine needle aspirate) and examine the cells to tell you more information. There are two main things that I am suspicious of, though it may be something else entirely: histioctyoma or mast cell tumor. Histiocytomas are a benign and generally self resolving type of growth. Mast cell tumors are unfortunately a type of cancer and he may need surgical removal of the mass as well as more testing. I will hope for a benign finding for Niklaus growth. There is no way of knowing for sure without an examination though this represents a reason to seek veterinary care. This is usually determined with an examination and a fine needle aspirate (FNA) or a biopsy. Treatment depends on the findings up to that point. My puppy has a white bump on his lip. Should I worry or see a vet?

I wouldn't rush him to the vet just yet. Just monitor the area for the next few days to a week. It should go away on its own if it is just a bug bite or minor skin reaction. If it gets worse or doesn't resolve then its best to have it looked at after the wait and see period is over, especially if Beaux is not bothered by it.

I am sorry that Kylie has developed this lump on her lip. Dogs can get viral lesions, though this does not appear to be one. From the pictures you have sent the "bump" appears to be a skin growth. There are several types off masses that can grow in the skin of dogs such as cysts, lipomas, allergic reactions and even some type of cancers. Some are benign and some are malignant, so careful observation is important, as well as having a vet examine it if you are concerned. Since you only just noticed the lump, I would continue to monitor it for growth, ulceration, changes in texture or color. Measure the mass with a ruler so you can compare its growth in a weeks time. It could be an infection, cyst, allergic reaction, or mass. Have your vet take a look at the bump tomdetermine the cause. Your vet can do a fine needle aspirate to diagnose and then determine the best way to treat it. He may need an antibiotic, antihistamine, corticosteroid to treat or it may need to be removed.
