What are safe, low-fat treat options for my dog on a special diet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 4 years and 2 months old | 8 lbs

My vet told me that my dog dove has to be on low fat food and treats. But they didnt give us a list of what treats are low in fat or under what precentage of fat they have to be to be safe to give my dog. Is there any way i could get some suggestions?

If Dove has to receive low fat treats, I would recommend staying away from the commercial stuff in general. While there are likely some commericially available treats out there marketed as more tolerable, you should think about using things like fruits and vegetables, cut up into small pieces to give your pup. These healthy snacks will make Dove equally as happy, I promise! Some things to consider are carrots, apples, green beans, and even some citrus fruits in certain dog's cases. Hope this makes sense.
