My adopted husky has low energy, cries, and runny poop. What's wrong?

It could be digestive upset, pain, or itching from fleas. I would continue to watch Cali. If she continues with this odd behavior, it would be best to haver her checked out by a vet to see what could be going on.

I don't think it's necessarily something to be worried about at this stage. It is not uncommon for huskies and husky-type dogs to be picky/light eaters. She may be low energy because she is unsure of her surroundings. You have only had her one day. Don't force her or push her to be social if she doesn't want to be. If she is vomiting or having diarrhea she should see a veterinarian ASAP. If she is of normal body weight I would not be concerned. Many dogs these days are overfed and too fat. I doubt she will be starve herself. In my entire veterinary career I think I have only told 1 or 2 people that their dogs were too skinny. It is very rare. I suggest you get a scale and weigh her once a week and keep a log. When Amelia goes to the vet next take the log with you and you can discuss it with them. Has she been dewormed? Is she up to date on her vaccinations? She is supposed to have a round of vaccines at 8 weeks of age, 12 weeks of age and 16 weeks of age. Submit a stool sample to definitively rule out intestinal parasites, even if he has been dewormed. With certain parasites, it can take several dewormings before an infection is cleared. Place Aspen on a monthly medication for heartworm/intestinal parasites. Consider submitting blood and fecal samples to diagnose malabsorption or maldigestion issues. Poor Sasha! Vomiting up blood is worrisome. She may have a stomach ulcer causing this or worse yet some type of bleeding disorder. The shelters do their best to assess pet health with what limited funds they have but underlying disease can go undetected. Huskies are also known to be quite anxious and the stress of the move could have caused a stomach ulcer. I can understand your concern. It seems you have done the right thing by checking her vital organs with baseline bloodwork and her poops are normal. At her age, she is entering senior/mature dog status, so this is most likely the reason Hazel is slowing down and no longer behaving like a puppy or young adult dog. I would also suspect that Hazel may be experiencing some arthritis in her joints, which tends to enable pets a bit. I would recommend getting her started on some joint supplements such as Dasuquin, Synovi- G4 or Duralactin to see if that makes any difference with her activity level. And if you are overly concerned and start noticing an abnormal gait, then I would consider getting an x-ray done of her joints to look further into things. I hope that Hazel does well moving forward. These symptoms are always concerning in a puppy. If Muffin did not have a complete set of vaccines when he was younger, parvo or distemper is a possibility, even without blood in the stool. Hypoglycemia or liver disease could also cause these symptoms, and could be a concern if your Husky is only 10 pounds at 6 months. I would recommend that he be checked out by a vet ASAP.
