Why is my active stray dog's appetite low after deworming treatment?

A decrease in appetite is a general sign of illness. If Deke is being treated for heartworm and is showing new signs of illness, it would be best to let your vet know so they can examine him and make sure there aren't any complications from the medication or his treatment that need to be addressed. I'm wondering if you mean you gave Buddy a dewormer. You can see some stomach upset from giving a deworming treatment, as it can be due to the dead worms moving through the GI system, but it shouldn't stop him from eating completely. I would be concerned that he could have a medical illness causing him to not eat and have deceased drinking. Because of this, I would have him checked out by a vet right away. Best of luck.

He is lovely! Quite often with lurcher puppies you find that you cant fill them even though they are healthy. I would double check his weight and calculate what his daily ration should be. I would feed this in 3 meals and recommend a slow feeding bowl. If you notice any signs of ill health such as vomiting or diarrohea I would have him checked by a vet in case he has a tummy issue.
