Why is my dog's lip bump swollen, white, and not going away?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 9 months old | 15 lbs

Hello, my dog got a bump under his lip sometime around last week it seemed to be going down. However it is still there sometimes appearing larger or swollen. It turns white when pressure is applied to it. Doesn’t seem to bother or itch him. But it also doesn’t seem to be going away...

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be a benign or malignant growth. There is no way of knowing for sure without an examination though this represents a reason to seek veterinary care. This is usually determined with an examination and a fine needle aspirate (FNA) or a biopsy. Treatment depends on the findings up to that point. I recommend you have Teddy evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a good day!
