My Maltese is limping, won't eat, stomach pain, rash. What's wrong?

Loss of appetite and vomiting can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. Lameness can be due to discomfort possibly due to arthritis or something else. This may be related or perhaps may be unrelated and another issue. Lyme disease is a possibility though this is not very common. I recommend that you have Jakey evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam. Treatment would be based on findings. Good luck and have a great day! Hoping for a speedy recovery!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I am so sorry to hear about little Sophia. I am worried in this case about pain- back pain specifically. Her breed and what you describe are very typical of this. But other things such as infection or orgsn disease are possible. I think regardless of cause, Sophia needs to see the doctor for a good physical exam and some prescription pain medication if appropriate. Best of luck to you and Sophia.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I am so sorry that Sasha is so ill! Based on your pictures Sasha looks very sick and very thin. Possible causes: infected uterus since she is not spayed, cancer, foreign body (ate something that is stuck in her stomach or intestines), or intestinal parasites. I would need more information about what tests your Vet ran: blood work, stool sample or X-rays of her belly? If those things have not been done then I would recheck with your Vet as soon as possible. An infected uterus and a foreign body are emergency surgeries and can be life saving if done early. If she has cancer the best thing would be to discuss humane euthanasia since Sasha is suffering. I am very sorry and I with you and Sasha the best.

Hello. Limping & a lack of appetite may be a sign of some metabolic problem or an infectious disease. Tick fever is one thing that comes to mind that can cause lameness & illness at the same time. The weight loss is concerning because this indicates that this may be a chronic problem. Before things get any worse for your sweet girl, it would be best to have her evaluated by your veterinarian at your earliest convenience. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Gidget! How old is Gidget? Have they tested her for Lyme disease or other tick born diseases? That should be done. Other possibilities are immune medicated joint disease or meningitis but Lyme disease is very high on my list. Good luck!

Hello thank you for using PetCoach. A GI issue is always possible, however, I think his symptoms are more related to the lameness. I think you should have him to your vet to check his leg even if it seems like his not limping anymore. If the lameness is subtle now you may not be noticing it. Any pain/stress could cause lethargy and soft stool. While waiting for an appointment you can always start him on a probiotic to help support his GI tract. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I am glad your Vet is involved. The limping is odd with the gastro-intestinal signs. In one dog I would think it is just random, but in 2 that is strange. It could be an immune issue like lupus or an immune polyarthropathy. If the Gi signs were from something infections (viral, fungal) that could possibly involve the bones or joints. I agree with the fecal. If the limping doesn't resolve I would do blood work on both dogs and X-ray the affected limb. It sounds like Kia should be seen again first. I wish you all the best!
