Dog limping, stiff neck, and won't jump? Is it a pinched nerve?

Possibilities are a back strain or sprain, Lyme disease, or hip dysplasia. An exam and hip X-rays could help determine what might be going on. Try resting him for a few days and if there is no improvement have him seen early next week. I wish Benelly a speedy recovery!

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Baby! I am assuming Baby is limping? Causes of limping really depends on whether it is a front or hind leg. It could be just a strain or sprain but it could also be Lyme disease, ACL tear and many other things. If he is acting lethargic and not eating he should see a Vet today. If he is otherwise fine then rest him and see how he is by Monday. If by Monday he is still limping then he should be seen by your Vet. I do not recommend giving Baby any human medications. Hi and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I strongly recommend taking Lardo in for an orthopedic exam. The knots may be related to his limping or it may be something else entirely. Labs can be prone to hip dysplasia and stifle (Knee) problems. Arthritis can also cause worsening lameness. I would suggest an exam to narrow down the cause then the vet may suggest xrays to get a better idea of the problem. Cancer or infection can also affect bones and joints. A full exam will help to narrow down the cause of his pain so an appropriate diagnosis can be made. Please do not give over the counter pain medication, as many are toxic to dogs. I'm sorry to hear Balto is hurting! Do not give him ibuprofen as it can be harmful to the liver. I would recommend instead to apply heat to the area (hot water bottle, heating pad) and massage it gently. This will increase blood supply and add relaxation the the muscle tissues. The problem with giving him medication tonight is that the doctor will likely want to put him on a medication that is safe for dogs. Each medicine has a wash out period, meaning that he cannot take another medication until the second one has cleared out of his system. This is generally 1-7 days depending on the product. It may cause the doctor not to be able to use the medication of choice. If he continues to hurt, call his veterinarian or an emergency clinic and see if you can get him in for an exam for pain medications if nothing else. I hope Balto starts feeling better soon!

I would be looking into the possibility of this being something affecting the joints per se such as immune mediated polyarthritis or perhaps something like hypertrophic osteodystrophy given his young age. These are possible things your veterinarian can look into. Treatment of course would depend on findings. At the very least they can try pain control medications and anti-inflammatory drugs. Hi there! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This can happen from many reasons that go all the way from a muscle sprain to even cancer. I recommend that you have TJ evaluated by your veterinarian for further tests and assessment. Your veterinarian would be able to localize the pain and proceed with radiographs for example to look for any possible changes that could help rule out or in some of these conditions. Treatment would be based on findings but at the very least, your veterinarian could start TJ on medications for pain to make him feel better. Good luck! Hoping for a speedy recovery!

I would recommend you consider taking him to your veterinarian so they can check for this. They can then treat accordingly. In the meantime, try to rest him and avoid touching his neck.
