Dog licking paw constantly, no limp. Is something stuck or a growth?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | spayed | 6 years old

I can’t tell if Zoey has stepped on something or if it’s part of her paw. She’s not limping but she licks it a lot. She doesn’t yelp like it hurts and will let me touch it some, but it feels like it’s attached to me. What should I do?

I am sorry to hear about Zoey. This could be an small tumor (luckily not all tumors are malignant and aggressive so we can have slower growing tumors as well) , an abscess, or a foreign body. I would recommend bringing Zoey to her vet to have the area examined. She may need to have it removed, explored, or may need an antibiotic if infection is suspected.
