My dog licked cacao powder. Should I worry about her rumbling stomach?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 1 month old | 31 lbs

My boxer (about 55 lbs) licked some cocao powder (not cocoa) from a mixture in a cup. She just licked the sides, but definitely had some. I’m worried about her. She is sleeping, but her stomach is rumbling.

It is unlikely that your dog ate enough cacao powder to actually get intoxicated.
He would have to eat 1 oz or more (at least 4 of those packets)of the powder in order to get a problem. So you do not have to worry.
