My dog is lethargic, not eating, and not moving. Is he very sick?

It's hard to advise you with this small amount of information, but if Bob is not moving or responding to commands or treats, I would take him in to your nearest emergency veterinary clinic for evaluation. They will check him out, and likely run blood work as a starting point.

The cause of Bobby's sudden discomfort is pretty hard to determine without diagnostics or a physical exam. If going to the vet at the moment isn't an option, just make sure that his temperature is normal (rectal temp between 99.5 - 102.5), that his gums are pink / moist, and that his skin has relatively appropriate elasticity. This will give you a good idea of general stability. In terms of at home remedies, depending on the extent and nature of the vomit you might be somewhat limited. Obviously giving oral medications to an animal that is going to vomit them up is not very useful. If you feel that he can keep anything down, medications like pepsid and prilosec are good at treating upset tummies. The use of this plus a 24 hour fast might be the best thing to do for now. However, if matters continue to go in a downward trend, I would encourage you to find means to get Bobby in for an exam at the very least. Hope this makes sense.

I would recommend having him seen by a vet right away - he/she can palpate his belly to check for any abnormalities, and may also need to do blood work and x-rays to determine the problem. Caramelo will likely need IV fluids for dehydration and may need to be hospitalized for further treatment depending on what's wrong.

Poor Pocholo! It definitely sounds like he isn't feeling well for some reason. Unfortunately, these symptoms are very vague and could be caused by almost any type of illness or injury, so there's no way to say what might be wrong without being able to examine him. I would recommend taking him to the vet for a check-up as soon as you are able to - he/she can do some blood work or other testing if needed to help determine what's wrong and get him started on appropriate treatment for the problem.

Hello, sorry to hear about Bob. There are many reasons why he may not be eating and acting lethargic. A temperature of 102 is normal for a dog. Potential causes include a dietary indiscretion (getting into something that did not sit well with him), ingesting foreign material, having a viral infection or parasites, having pancreatitis, liver or kidney disease. Any signs of lethargy, decreased appetite, and acting abnormal, especially in a younger dog, warrant a visit to the veterinarian. A 2 year old Lab should have lots of energy and a good appetite if they are healthy. It is possible that he is systemically sick, either with gastrointestinal disease, liver or kidney disease, or other metabolic issue causing him to feel unwell. He may also be painful somewhere, causing him to not want to eat and walk slowly. I recommend contacting your veterinarian to have him seen at the next available appointment. Your vet will likely recommend bloodwork to look for any evidence of infection or organ abnormalities that can be treated. Do NOT give any pain medications that are intended for humans to Brak n Jan, as these can be fatally toxic to dogs. I hope this is helpful!

Loss of appetite and lethargy can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Ginger evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam.
