What's this lump or mark on my dog's leg? Should I be concerned?

Hello! This would not worry me too much as it looks suspicious for a benign growth or related to pressure from sitting/laying on his elbow. However the only way to know for sure would be to see it in person and to sample it. If it is recently noticed, I think it would be ok to monitor it for growth or irritation and have it sampled if you have any concerns. I hope this helps!

I can see the small, raised, slightly red hairless lump on Hazel's paw in the photo. This may be a bug bite, localized skin infection, or a mass (which is less likely in younger dogs). I recommend having the area examined by a vet to determine the underlying cause and begin the appropriate treatment. In the meantime, you can get Hazel an E-collar or "cone" to prevent her licking the area and causing further trauma and irritation.

Unfortunately, the photo is very fuzzy and of poor contrast so I am unable to really make much of an assessment out of it. Best guess, it looks like it could have been a self-inflicted wound called a lick granuloma, but this would need to be confirmed by a vet to be certain. If the lesion is getting smaller and is non-painful to the touch, it may not be very concerning since it very well might be resolving on its own. If it is in fact a lick granuloma, the best thing you can do for it is clean it with dilute betadine or chlorhexidine solution, apply some triple antibiotic ointment to it daily, and make sure Eddie has a cone on so he can't lick the area to make it worse. However, the reality is, if you really want to know more information on the origin / cause of the lesion, you are going to need to have a professional take a look at that in person. Hello. This is a small tumor, probably benign, but since it looks a bit irritated I would have your veterinarian take a look. It may just require a watch & wait to see if it continues to be irritated, or your veterinarian may suggest removal & histopathology to identify the tissue type & make sure there is not anything further to be concerned about. Hello. All I can see is a small area of dermatitis on the leg. It can have many causes, but you can treat this with an over the counter skin antiseptic called Hibiclens. Gently scrub the skin twice a day & dab dry ( do not rinse ). Do this for about 2-3 weeks & the lesion should clear up. But since I cannot make any kind of actual diagnosis, if the skin becomes more irritated or the area does not seem to be healing, please consider seeing your veterinarian. Hello, thank you for your question about Sky. Based on the photo you've attached it is possible that this lesion is secondary to a blood blister or cyst-like lesion. It could also be a mild skin infection. Dogs can develop skin masses/tumors such as mast cell tumors. I would recommend having Sky seen by your veterinarian so that they can examine the area and discuss the need for additional testing such as an impression of the area or collecting a small needle sample. I'm not sure from the picture if it's just the mass the side a little bigger than your thumb nail, or if the entire 6 inch round area around the main bump is red. Either way, I would be worried about a growth first and then perhaps an insect bite if you've only noticed it today. Young dogs can have a type of mass called a histiocytoma that is benign and goes away on it's own eventually. I would recommend a vet visit if it's growing in size, just to be on the safe side.
