My dog's leg hair won't grow back after shaving, with a pink spot.

Petra is very cute! I would recommend taking her to a vet for a skin scrape. This will make sure she does not have skin mites like demodex. IT is possible a small allergy,fungal disease, skin infection or even vasculitis from a rabies vaccine cause the hair loss. However due to breed I would make sure she does not have skin mites.

Hello. All I can see is a small area of dermatitis on the leg. It can have many causes, but you can treat this with an over the counter skin antiseptic called Hibiclens. Gently scrub the skin twice a day & dab dry ( do not rinse ). Do this for about 2-3 weeks & the lesion should clear up. But since I cannot make any kind of actual diagnosis, if the skin becomes more irritated or the area does not seem to be healing, please consider seeing your veterinarian. It looks like it is on the right thigh? It is possible that this could be a deep skin infection, a demodex mite problem, a mass (tumor), or even a Rabies vaccine reaction site. I would encourage you to have a follow up appointment with your veterinarian. They may recommend looking for mites, an oral antibiotic, or even a biopsy. It could be caused by a bacterial skin infection, ringworm, mites/parasites, or allergies. Have your vet take a look at her to determine the cause. Your vet can do a skin scrape and /or culture to help diagnose and treat. You could try to bathe her with a medicated dog shampoo and see if that helps.

A mild allergy, mites, bacterial infection or even ringworm can cause hair loss with that appearance. It looks like a pretty small area with mild inflammation to me so I'm not overly concerned. You could use a gentle oatmeal based dog shampoo to clean the area. You can also use an e-collar if it seems like Nova wants to lick at the area. I don't think avoiding grass will be helpful. If the area does not start to regrow hair or the redness gets worse I would see your veterinarian. Your veterinarian can obtain skin samples to see if an infection is present. Making sure Rosie is on a good monthly flea and tick preventive may help if you see parasites. If the area is not improving or is expanding in size it is best to have your vet take a look. They may recommend taking a skin scraping of the area to have it tested for possible causes. Be sure to also let your vet know of any other changes such as changes in appetite or energy levels. As some infections can be contagious to other pets and people, washing your hands after handling the area is best to help minimize spread.

Yes, it is possible that this is a spot of reaction where the needle has gone in and the vaccine has been injected. If that is the case it should not progress any further, but it is possible that it will remain the same (bald, black spot).
