My dog has a large tail cyst. Why can't it be removed due to skin?

They may be able in this case to remove the tissue around it so that it stops bothering him. Another alternative is to treat it medically with antibiotics. It does happen that cysts can refill, and if that happens it is recommended to have it removed surgically. It could be that it's starting to refill again, and you can ask your vet about having it removed surgically.

That does sound very concerning! I would apply pressure to try to stop the bleeding. Because it's been a continual problem, the cyst may need to be removed surgically. I recommend having a physical exam, geriatric blood panel, and urinalysis done on Treeko. This will give the vet a detail picture of his anesthetic risk, and can make the determination if he can be put under anesthesia safely.

It could be a cyst. called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of its cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. Some masses can be removed using local anesthetic while the patient is awake, but not in all cases. If it is quite a large cyst, unfortunately, the only 100% solution would be to remove it entirely. That growth may be a tumor or a cyst that ruptured. It is infected and has a very large open spot. the only thing you can do at home is keep the area clean and get an e collar from a pet store to prevent him from licking it and making it worse. It will need to be seen by a vet for antibiotics and possibly surgery to have it removed or this may be a repetitive cycle

It doesn't cause problems if it stays on the tail unless it becomes quite big and annoys Benji. You may have to keep having it drained, and that's why it's recommended to have it removed surgically should it keep filing up. It saves you from repeated trips to the vet to have it drained :-)
