My dog keeps killing her puppies. What's wrong and how can I stop it?

Cannibalism rarely occurs in dogs, but Missy could have attacked her puppies because of pain from mastitis (suckling provokes aggression) or because the puppies are unhealthy and she sensed that. I would not reintroduce that puppy back to Missy, and I would have her seen by a vet immediately for a health check to make sure she doesn't have a medical illness causing this aggression. You may have to bottle feed this puppy. At seven years old, Missy is actually too old to be having puppies (it's never recommended to breed a dog over the age of five or six), so I would have her spayed asap if she won't be nursing her remaining puppy.

I would recommend not breeding her anymore and getting her spayed. It is possible that she is unable to get pregnant again. If you would like to know for sure I would take her to a veterinarian for bloodwork to check her hormone level. However with her getting older it might be time to retire her and stop trying to breed her.

Either Cara is a bad mother or this is a natural thing she is doing because the kittens are abnormal. Nature is hard and animals do things differently than people. If she keeps having litters that are born prematurely or are sickly that is a problem. I would suggest having her spayed so she can not have kittens anymore. I am afraid you have a serious problem which is likely to become a bigger problem when Tiger gets older. Unfortunately this is not something you can deal with as a lay person. You will need the help of a professional behavioral specialist. It is definitely not normal for puppies that young to attack other puppies and eat them. This may be a hereditary problem, ie Staffies used to be fighting dogs and Tiger just may have a very strong aggression potential. I suggest you separate Tiger from the other dogs, so that you do not lose any more puppies. Thanks for the question. Interbreeding of a mother to an offspring does carry a high risk of genetic problems. It is possible that the pups will have problems, or that they will be born normal. Since she appears to be far along in her pregnancy, I wouldn't advise terminating the pregnancy at this point. I hope all goes well, and I recommend spaying/neutering, or keeping offspring separated once they are over 5 months of age to prevent future pregnancies.

Your question is kind of choppy but what I think your asking is this "a two year old mixed breed dog got pregnant and then died so you want to know if someone made her get pregnant". If so, it is possible someone put her together with an intact male dog to make babies. If you are asking if she wanted to be pregnant the answer is probably yes. Intact animals are looking to breed. That is science and evolution- the goal is to have your genes carried on. No one would have to lock her up for that, she can seek that out on her own.
