My dog has an itchy red spot on her skin. Is it a skin infection?

It looks like a skin infection. I would recommend a visit to your vet to have them evaluate her skin. This most likely requires antibiotics and possibly a shampoo. I recommend you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as this will likely require local therapy with cleaning of the site, pain control medications and antibiotics. This could be a wound or an infection. I would recommend cleaning this using a solution of diluted betadine and water (mix until a light brown color) and monitor for signs of worsening. If the area does not resolve or it worsens, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine the area so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made.

I would recommend calling your vet in the morning. No need to rush Kiwi in. Looks like a skin infection is starting most likely from allergies. With such a localized lesion a shampoo may just be whats needed, she might not need oral antibiotics yet. I would talk to your vet about allergy medication if she is really that itchy. Hello. Ava may have a bit of a staph infection in her skin. I recommend using an antibacterial shampoo called KetoChlor Medicated shampoo made by Virbac. When you use this, you should lather her up & leave the shampoo on for 5-10 minutes before rinsing. Repeat twice a week for the next 4-6 weeks. Judging from the pictures, this could be a skin infection, skin allergy, reaction to something such as poison ivy or skin mites.
