My dogs are very itchy after moving. Could it be our new home's A/C?

Yes he could have allergies since you recently moved, especially if it is hot and humid there. There are lots of bacteria, molds and inhalant allergies that can cause the symptoms you describe. Generally most dogs will adjust to the new environment over several months and not need treatment. If Duke gets worse with the itching or starts more gagging or coughing then I would bring him in for a exam. Air conditioning units work by condensing the air which causes it to lose moisture which in turn makes it a lot drier. This will often cause coughing as it is more irritant to the airway, and it can contribute to chest infections. I would consider using it less often or letting the dogs spend more time outside. If they continue coughing it could be an infection so go to the vet.

I am sorry to hear about Churro, what a cutie he is! If this is a recent change I would wonder if he could have an allergy to something in the environment since your move, or if the new location could have an external parasite such as fleas that he has now been affected by. I would recommend an exam by his vet to check for possible causes, particularly since he is having some lethargy as well. The vet can recommend medication to help with itching if necessary to help Churro be more comfortable!

It could be that there is something in the home or the new environment that is causing Blondie to have a contact allergy. I would have her seen by a vet. It's not normal to have a rash for a couple of months, and it needs to be examined and treated. She may benefit from steroids and medicated shampoos for the rash, which the vet can prescribe. I would have her seen by a vet first thing Monday.

With recent moving and travels they could have been exposed to fleas and if they are scratching they could have a flea allergy. You may not always find a live flea so it's not always easy to rule out. If you moved far, there could be an environmental allergy- something they have never been exposed to before. Also, changes in humidity and pressure can cause scratching. If their skin is red or they are keeping you up at night with the scratching I would recommend seeing a vet. You would be very unlucky to have all three dogs with skin allergy!! If you (or your vet) already ruled out fleas, mites and skin infection can be responsible for this presentation. A check up for one would be enough probably for all of them and some basic skin tests (skin scrapes for example) can rule out these differentials. I think a check up at your local veterinarian would be the best option. This is probably due to an allergy, although it could also be infection or mites. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat with a high quality flea treatment, then ask the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try to discover the cause of the allergy. Three main type of allergies are usually affecting pets: food allergies, flea and parasite related ones and environmental type (allergens coming from trees, pollens, dust etc etc). Some medications can be given by the vet in order to repair any possible skin lesions (like steroids and antibiotics).
