My dog has a new inflamed scab or bump. What is it and how to treat?

This just popped up on my dog - any idea what it is

It appears to be a scab with inflammation. It may be a hot spot as a result of rubbing against something irritating or having something spilled on him or being bitten or scratched by something. often times, they can lick and scratch the area afterwards and make it worse. The best thing to do is keep it clean and place Neosporin on it to dry the scab up
