My dog's incision has fresh blood after cone off. Should I go to vet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 11 months and 3 days old

So my dog got his cone off and the blood looks fresh but isn't leaking out blood. Should I still take him to the vet? I don't know if I have enough money to cover if I were to do so.

It could be that Zues did a little bit of irritation to his incision, causing some blood to leak out, but if it isn't a lot of blood, it has stopped and all his sutures are still in place, then there is no need to take him into the vet now. Keep an eye on it, and if there are sutures missing, it stills actively bleeding, or the incision looked infected, then I would take him into the vet.
