Can I bathe my dog with a hotspot using anti-bacterial shampoo?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Havanese | Male | neutered | 3 years and 5 months old | 15 lbs

My dog has a little hotspot in his back leg but he was playing out side digging holes and now he needs a bath will that be ok or will that make the hotspot worse? The shampoo I'm using is anti-bacterial

It should be fine to wash him bit he may be sensitive in that area so take care. Make sure the area is well rinsed and dried. If the hot spot is bad it would be good to have it examined in case treatment is required.
