My dog has hives, itching, and vomited after Benadryl. Vet needed?

I would take Harley into a vet immediately. It is concerning that she has been vomiting and having diarrhea, and that the Benadryl isn't helping her hives. Hives are typically caused by allergic reactions, and they can progress to swelling and difficulties breathing. Oftentimes dogs need stronger medications to stop an allergic reaction, such as steroids. Only a vet can give her the correct medicine for her symptoms. You should call your vet and give him/her an update. If the hives started after giving the antibiotics then your vet may want to switch to a different antibiotic in case it is an allergic reaction to the antibiotics. Your vet may also want to prescribe a corticosteroid to help treat.

Poor Zara. I would recommend taking her to a veterinarian for a good physical exam. Dogs can have allergic reactions which will cause hives and itchy skin. She might need something stronger to help calm her hives and itchy skin that only a vet can prescribe. Hope that helps

I would recommend taking Oreo to urgent care if the hives have not resolved 30 minutes after giving Benadryl. Oreo may need an injection of a corticosteroid to resolve the allergic reaction, and an allergic reaction can get worse quickly if not treated appropriately.

This is probably an allergic reaction due to an insect bite or a plant outside. those reactions tend to resolve within 48 hours without treatment. if the swelling becomes too large or if your dog becomes lethargic, take him to the vet in order to get an antihistamine/steroid injection. from your description at this moment i think he is probably fine, but this can change so monitor him closely.

The only thing you can do at home is to give Benadryl. If he is still having issues than he needs to be seen by a vet. Your vet can give an injection of prednisone to help treat the hives and make him feel better.
