My dog has high liver enzymes. Is anesthesia safe for dental cleaning?

My dog needs a dental cleaning however his ALT is alarmingly high 2500 he has had two needle aspirations two ultrasounds 5 different medications but no diagnosis, he has no symptoms. Vet is recommending liver biopsy my concern is if he couldn't go under anesthesia for a dental how can he be put under anesthesia safely for a biopsy of his liver

Hi ! I was wondering if blood tests have been run to check for Cushing’s disease. This condition would also cause an elevation of liver enzymes. Regarding the teeth I would explore other possibilities that don ‘t include an anestesia ... first do no harm ! Hope this helps. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
