Why does my dog hide his food and treats and try to bury his bowl?

Some dogs always do this and some do it because they don't want it or they have some anxiety. Does she eventually eat it? If so then she likely just saving it for later. Does she only do it when it is storming or other times when she is anxious? If so this is likely anxiety. Does she never go back to eat it and she won't eat it out of her bowl either, then she may not like that food and is wanting something different. I hope this helps!

Many cats will exhibit this behavior. It's instinctual to cover up any left over food. This 'hides' it from other creatures who may eat it so that the cat can come back later to eat the remainder of the food. Even though Ricco is domesticated, he still has those instincts. What he's doing is probably instinctively trying to cover his food. Some dogs exhibit this behavior, which is perfectly normal. If you put down a paper towel, he may try to use that to cover his food.

It's a weird behavior, huh? I am not sure why they do it, but many dogs will do this. Sometimes it is that they are looking for a piece that they prefer to eat, they don't like the food, maybe they don't like the bowl the food is in, or they think they will save it for later. Some dogs do this all the time and other only sometimes.

They also like them as they find them tasty though it is not recommended to give them bones as they can choke on them or they can even result in a gastrointestinal obstrcution. While these changes in behavior pattern are curious, I don't see a need to be overly concerned if everything else is normal. However, it is true that these small changes may be an early sign that something is wrong. Pay attention to how much she eats and drink. If it seems more or less, then this can indicate a problem. Also run your hands over her entire body and feel for anything out of the ordinary. Also, I am seeing that Lalya is 72lbs. This is rather heavy for a husky. Make sure that she is not getting too chunky or this can cause problems like diabetes in her old age. They can easily get fat without you noticing, because of all that fur. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is Cori showing his extreme excitement and joy of receiving this treat. All animals react differently. There is probably not much you can do about the whining/crying. For the trying to bury it I would make him calm down and lay down to eat it. As for stealing other dogs bones, I would have your friends pick up their dogs bone and be sure to teach Cori how to listen and come. If he sees a bone he should know to "leave it" and "drop it."
