My dog has bumps on his head after a scratch. Will they go away?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 6 years and 1 month old | 65 lbs

Hi my dog had a small scratch on his head about a few months ago. I cleaned it for a few weeks. It cleared up. He know has a 2 small bumps on his head. It doesnt hurt him when i touch it. A vet told me it looks like scar tissue maybe some fluid in it and it should go away. What do you think? I dont have a good picture of it. You can see the dark spot between his eyes a few inches up.

I think your veterinarian, who was able to see and palpate the lesion, is right in determining that this may be scar tissue. As long as it is not painful, the skin does not turn red and it is not hot, there is nothing to worry about. Over time this will get less and less noticeable.
