My dog was attacked and is now growling at me. What should I do?

Poor guy. It is likely he is suffering from a bit of post traumatic stress and is likely still very sore from the bite wounds. He should gradually improve over the next few weeks. I am not sure what the condition of his wounds are but continue to monitor them for any excessive discharge or foul odors, which should prompt another vet visit if seen. Poor guy. Try to soothe him with warm compresses on the areas that may seem painful and offer him special treats through his healing. I hope that Gucci is able to make a full and speedy recovery! He could absolutely have injuries that you cannot see, either to his muscle or spine/neck. If he is moving slower, he may have neck pain that hurts him when he moves. I recommend having him evaluated by a veterinarian at their next available appointment, so he/she can perform a physical exam and localize any pain. Your vet can prescribe pain/anti-inflammatory medications that help your pet be more comfortable. If you cannot get him to the vet, I recommend keeping him rested (ie restricted to a crate) so he cannot hurt himself further. I hope this is helpful!

Poor Brody! How scary for both of you. Dogs can certainly be anxious and upset for a while after a traumatic event like this, just like people. This should improve with time, but there are a few things you can try in the meantime that may help. If he seems nervous all the time, you can try using a DAP pheromone collar along with a natural calming supplement like Zylkene or Composure to help him relax - these products are all very safe, and can be purchased over the counter without a prescription. On walks, he may be very nervous about other dogs approaching for quite a while - so I would make sure to give him plenty of space, and don't walk in areas where other dogs are likely to be until he seems more relaxed and comfortable again. You can also carry treats with you on your walks, and praise and reward him every time you see another dog - this can be a very effective way of helping with fear.

I'm sorry to hear about your dog. She looks like she is experiencing some swelling in the face and is almost certainly in some pain. I understand that you don't have much money, but she almost certainly requires pain medication, anti-inflammatory medication, and antibiotics. The wounds on the face should be clipped around then cleaned with antiseptic in order to disinfect. Depending on the size of any wounds, they may need to be closed with stitches. I am suspicious that he may be painful somewhere. Possibly spinal pain. I would encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian soon. If no pain is identified then you may want to discuss the possibility of anti anxiety medications and possibly a consultation with a veterinary behaviorist. You should get your dog to a vet immediately for a thorough examination as there may have been some serious damage done that is not obvious. Hopefully not and it is just the development of some muscle pain etc but at the very least the vet will be able to give some pain relief, alongside peace of mind.

I'm so sorry that you and Taz have experienced this. I would recommend getting Taz to a veterinarian right away. He may just be bruised and very painful, or he may have some internal damage that needs immediate attention. Either way, Taz needs significant pain medication. In the meantime, I would not recommend any over the counter pain medication since it may interact with the medications that your veterinarian may give him. Good luck!
