My dog is gassy. When should I worry about his excessive flatulence?

Maybe Zuma ate something outside or someone gave him some human food causing the gas. Feed him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If this does not help with the gas, have him seen by a vet.

By far the most common cause of too much gas in a dog is due to dietary indiscretion or difficulty in the digestion of its current diet. I would recommend gradually changing Elmo's food to something different over the course of About a Week. You can also use human products such as Gas-X two help reduce the amount of flatulence that Elmo is having. Gas-X is not a drug that is labeled for dogs and cats so there is no agreed-upon dose. I would suggest doing some reading online to find the dose that you are most comfortable administering. If Bailey had a sudden change in diet or ate something she should not have, that can cause the gas. Since she is acting normal, I'd keep an eye on her for now and hopefully she won't have gas for much longer.

The most common reasons are bacterial imbalance issues, a poor response to the fiber in the diet or parasites. You may try switching the food.
