Does my dog need Frontline Gold flea & tick protection in winter?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Goldendoodle | Female | spayed | 11 months and 28 days old | 53 lbs

Is Frontline Gold necessary all 12 months? I’m thinking winter months she could take a break ?

It really depends on the particular environment that Riley lives in. If you don't see fleas and ticks in the winter, then yes, it would make sense to not give it until they start to be seen again. However, fleas and ticks like to move indoors when the temperature outside gets cold, so you'll have to make sure that inside of the house is cleaned regularly (especially under the furniture, or any other dark areas that they could hide).
