My dog eats better after exercise. How much food and activity?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Male | neutered | 3 years and 8 months old | 61 lbs

Hi. So he doesn’t eat well. But if he exercises before hand he seem to eat very good. It was hard to walk him before meals and etc and we hadn’t realized this connection with him till we fixed our yard that he can’t push the gate open and run off. We have six foot vinyl fences three ways but the house side has 4 foot picket fences so he can’t be back there alone. Anyways how much walks mixed in with runs in the backyard (Sienna n him chase each other) and how much should he eat of Pure Balance

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your questions. It does not matter how many walks and how many runs Timber is getting per day and there is no set order that is recommended. As long as he is getting more than 2 hours of exercise per day, he should be ok with that amount of exercise. In regards to the food and how much he should be eating, I would recommend that you follow the feeding guidelines on the back of the bag. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
