My dog has flea/fly allergies. Is Seresto better than Hartz collar?

Yes I got an answer about Nina but I know she's allergic to flea bites and fly bites I was wondering if getting a seresto collar would be better than the hartz one she has on now I've also treated the house and yard and bathed her what else is there I can do besides the doggy aspirin and benadryl

Seresto is a very good product and in my experience would work best. Otherwise it seems you are doing everything Nina needs.
Benadryl and any other medication you are giving should be ideally supervised by your veterinarian.

Poor, Nina. Insect allergies are the worst! I do think that the Seresto collars work a lot better for preventing fleas than Hartz collars, they last longer, too! Also, remember that all pets in your household need to be treated for fleas to help prevent fleas on Nina.

However, neither collar will prevent flies. The best way to prevent fly bites is keeping Nina clean and free of debris that could be caught in her coat. Also keep her areas clean and hygienic. If the flies are biting in a certain area of her body (commonly around the ears), you can apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly. If that doesn't help, consider discussing other fly preventatives with your regular veterinarian as there are a couple prescription products that may help.

Can I use Seresto collar with Advantage or Frontline for my dog?

It is ok to use Seresto along with other topical products, just not oral ones. In some pets there can be a little skin irritation, so watch out for that and notify your vet if this happens. Otherwise, you should be fine to go ahead with Seresto to see if this does the trick. I would also recommend using a flea fogger to treat your home, which can be found at your local Home Depot or Lowe's. If you still don't have good results with the Seresto collar, then I would wait at least 2 weeks and consider better products such as Simparica or Nexgard. My dog has fleas and still itches after Nexgard. Can I use Seresto?

Hello, & thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Yes, you can absolutely place a Seresto Collar on Nala today, if you wish. But please consider that here may be other reasons besides fleas that are causing her to itch. Dogs can suffer from many allergies, just like we can, & sometimes fall can be the worse time of year for this. You will probably need to speak with your veterinarian to see if Nala does have allergies, & not fleas, & what medications will work best for her. Take care.

What's safe tick prevention for my allergic dog in a Lyme area?

I like the Seresto collar. It is effective and one collar lasts 8 months. It can even get wet! It has different medication than those other products you mentioned and since it is very slow release he may not react to it. Seresto vs oral flea & tick: Which is best for my working dog?

Seresto will be most cost-effective. It is a good quality product and lasts for 8 months. It would be a good choice for a working dog. Nexgard is as good (safe and effective) as Seresto but it will cost you more per year compared with Seresto.

My dog has fleas. Are flea collars effective, or are oral meds better?

The Seresto flea/tick collar is the only one on the market that is safe and effective - the others, including Adams, are often dangerously toxic for the dog and not effective at all for fleas in my experience. Advantix is definitely a better choice than PetArmor, but the most effective option available for fleas and ticks currently would be an oral medication like Nexgard or Bravecto. I would recommend getting a prescription from your veterinarian for one of these medications, if possible - this will eliminate the need for any topical medication or flea collars, and will also work much better.

My cat has fleas, Seresto collar stopped. What's the best treatment?

Fleas can be frustrating to treat. I know that many people have a lot of success with Seresto collars, but I have not. In order to treat Bandit’s fleas, I recommend using a good quality topical product, such as Advantage (use monthly) or Bravecto (prescription based and used every 3 months). Flea shampoos are rarely effective and can cause irritation to the skin, so I tend to steer clear of them. Be sure to vacuum daily, dispose of the vacuum bag frequently, and wash Bandit’s bedding in hot water. Continue to apply flea medication regularly in order to disrupt the fleas’ life cycle to prevent a recurrence. I hope this helps and that all goes well for Bandit!

My dog has fleas. Seresto vs chewables: Which is best for fast relief?

The chewable flea products are the best on the market and work the fastest. I recommend Simparica or Nexgard. You may ask about returning the collar and getting the flea oral flea products instead. The collar will work but not as quickly so Grim will get more flea bites (and hence more itching and skin inflammation) than if he was on an oral product.
