Seresto vs oral flea & tick: Which is best for my working dog?

The Seresto flea/tick collar is the only one on the market that is safe and effective - the others, including Adams, are often dangerously toxic for the dog and not effective at all for fleas in my experience. Advantix is definitely a better choice than PetArmor, but the most effective option available for fleas and ticks currently would be an oral medication like Nexgard or Bravecto. I would recommend getting a prescription from your veterinarian for one of these medications, if possible - this will eliminate the need for any topical medication or flea collars, and will also work much better.

The chewable flea products are the best on the market and work the fastest. I recommend Simparica or Nexgard. You may ask about returning the collar and getting the flea oral flea products instead. The collar will work but not as quickly so Grim will get more flea bites (and hence more itching and skin inflammation) than if he was on an oral product. Hi there! I like the Seresto collar for this purpose - it lasts 6-8 months depending on your dog's lifestyle (how often he goes swimming, etc.), and is effective against fleas and ticks. There is no problem using it in combination with monthly Trifexis.

The only flea collar that appears to work well is the Seresto collar. And even then, I can have a slower rate of kill for the fleas. The top products on the market our oral products such as some Perica and next guard. For most pets, these are good options that I recommend to call your veterinarian first and doublecheck. Also, you will need to treat all the pets in the household for six months to make sure you get through the entire fleet lifecycle. Best of luck.

The only decent flea collar is seresto. It is labeled for 8 months but the more you bathe them the shorter that period seems to be. So realistically you can get 5-6 months out of it. Bravecto tablets work well as it can last 3 months

Yes a Seresto collar and Nexgard can be used together, however both Nexgard and Seresto are highly effective against fleas and ticks and therefore it is not necessary to double up. You can just as effectively use either on its own.
