Why is my dog constantly flapping ears, but shows no pain or smell?

If your dog is shaking her head and flapping her ears than she may have an ear infection or allergy. You can look in her ears to see if she has any redness, discharge or odor. If she continues to flap her ears, she is at risk of getting an ear hematoma so she should be examined by a vet to determine the cause and needed treatment.

It is possible that he is flapping his ears due to the cold, but it's always worth having his ears checked out by a vet to be safe. As for ear cleaners, I recommend Epi-Otic. It's an excellent ear cleaner, and you can get it from your vet's clinic or a pet shop :-)

Yes, it sounds like something is bothering her. Dogs have very long ear canals so what you can see just by holding up the ear flap and looking down there is not even 10% of the ear. It is best to take her to the vet so they can look down into the ear with an otoscope to see if there is something down there.

I would be more concerned that Myna has an ear infection not just ear mites. Ear mites are not that common in dogs, although can happen. I recommend taking Myna to a veterinarian and letting them check her ears to see if there is an infection. If they are concerned about ear mites they can check under the microscope for them. This looks like an aural hematoma which is where blood from a capillary bursts and fills up the est between the two layers are cartilage. You can purchase a "no flap ear wrap" online to help with the flapping of the ears. Most commonly this problem needs a procedure done by a vet to allow the blood to drain while the two layers of cartilage re-adhere to one another. Also there is likely an ear infection that caused the shaking of the head to begin with that will likely need to be treated. If the blood is not drained the ear flap will eventually scar down and become a "cauliflower" ear which won't cause too many problems except that it isn't very cosmetic and sometimes they can be more prone to skin infections in the crevices of the cauliflower ear so this isn't recommended. This would be typical for an ear infection. I recommend you schedule a vet visit for Layla. This could be a bacterial, fungal or mite infection or caused by an allergy. Excessive head shaking can cause an othematome ( burst blood vessels in the ear flaps which then can cause crippling of the ear. So I would not wait long for an appointment with your veterinarian.

He needs to see a vet so that they can look down inside the ear with an otoscope. Dogs have very long ear canals. The part you can see with your eyes is only about 10% of the actual ear canal. He likely has a problem way down inside: there may be a chronic infection in the lower part of the ear that is causing an issue (this is my best guess). He could have a problem with the ear drum. He could have a polyp in the ear. There are so many possibilities. If you want to get this cleared up you need to get him to a vet for an exam.
