Is acepromazine really as bad as I have been hearing? That it's a chemical straightjacket? I have a 9yr border collie that is very scared of fire works. I tried 30mg of benadryl And didn't even phase him. I do have .25mg xanx for me, I heard I may be able to use that? My dog is in very good health and recently had a full check up.

There are a variety of over the counter pet specific calming medications that may or may not work (every pet responds differently). Thunder jackets can also help. The most reliable method is to pick up medication from the veterinarian. Many times a trial run is a good idea as well to make sure Toffee response to the sedatives as expected. Best of luck.
