My pug fell off the bed and is limping. Could her leg be broken?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Female | spayed | 11 years and 10 months old | 26 lbs

my pug just fell off of my bed. it's pretty high up and shes a small dog. when she fell she landed in a weird posistion but she didin't yelp. when i picked her up i saw that she was picking up her front right leg. she is limping but she can put some pressure on it. i put some pressure on it and bent it a little bit and she didin't cry. i've bandaged it up but im afraid its broken. i cannot visibly see if it's broken or not. she is sleeping at the moment and her breathing is normal.

It is good that you immobilized the limb. Ideally, Chloe should be sen by your veterinarian today for a physical exam. Since she is limping, she is likely in some degree of discomfort. Your vet can dispense medication for relief. X-rays will be needed to definitively diagnose a fracture. Depending on the type of fracture and location, Chloe may need surgery or she could have a bandage or splint placed for 6-8 weeks. This will need to be checked every week or so and changed as needed.
In the meantime, restrict her activity and monitor above and below the bandage for any swelling or irritation.
