Why is my Yorkie falling, can't walk straight, breathing hard, heart pounding?

These are certainly scary and concerning symptoms. I'm sure you are very worried about Bella as am I. I would recommend that Bella be seen by a veterinarian right away as the symptoms you report could be signs of something serious like low blood sugar. She is a tiny little dog and a Yorkie as well so there are some breed related issues that can cause similar signs. Seeing a veterinarian right away will help to rule out many things and hopefully get her feeling better as soon as possible. Hi and thanks for posting. This is very concerning to me especially since Bella is having trouble breathing. There could be a wide variety of reasons for all of these symptoms. Please take Bella to a vet ASAP to get evaluated immediately. She will need an exam and likely blood work and/or x-ray or other advanced imaging to help determine what is going on.

Bailey is an older girl, and these behaviors are signs of being sick. She could have kidney disease, diabetes, a pyometra (an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment), or even cancer causing her symptoms. She needs to see a vet now for them, please take her into one immediately. I recommended having a physical exam, geriatric blood panel, and urinalysis done. I hope this helps!

Given Bella's age, my first thought on this cough is that it may be due to heart disease. That can be common in older dogs, and it would get worse over time. I would take her into the vet in the morning for a physical exam, and possibly blood work, a urinalysis, and chest x-rays. If she does have heart disease, the vet can prescribe medications for her symptoms. Unfortunately it's not curable, but it can be managed with medication. I hope this helps!

It could be caused by heart problems or lungs disease (infection, inflammation, lung mass etc). Sometimes faster respiration is due to collapsed trachea and upper airways infection (common in Yorkies) or abdominal pathology. Please, get in touch with your vet as Bella should be checked over. Your vet may recommend chest x-ray, heart scan or abdominal ultrasound to make the final diagnosis.

Poor Zoe! I would be very concerned that she has a serious medical problem causing her symptoms such as heart disease, which is common in senior dogs. Heart disease leads to exercise intolerance, and it would cause her to become weak during normal activity and fall over. These symptoms are certainly not normal, and she needs a visit to the vet as soon as possible for a physical exam, routine blood tests, urinalysis, and chest x-rays. Once the cause of her symptoms are found, the vet can discuss treatment options with you. Heart disease cannot be cured, but it can be medically managed.
