My dog escapes, digs, and barks excessively. How can I stop her?

One option that can work for dogs who like to escape are under ground electric fences. You can purchase one and install it yourself and go through the training or the companies offer an instillation and training service. The dog needs to wear a special collar that detects the fence and will administer a correction if the dog gets too close. Most dogs will respect this system although some dogs will not. I recommend to do some research about these systems and see if they area good match for you. It is very difficult to train a dog not to escape and I don’t know many people who are successful at that. The first best thing you cn do with a territorial dog is invest in obedience training. This will allow you to have greater control over her when she displays her aggressions to those she feels are 'trespassing'. Additionally, makes sure she gets plenty of physical and mental stimulation. Take her for long walks, runs, play ball or fetch, take her with you wherever you can, rides in the car, anything and everything to tired her body and mind. A tired dog is a happy dog. Highly intelligent dogs are often the most anxious and therefore need a 'job'. She seems to have chosen guarding her yard as her job, you need to convince her to choose somethign else as her primary function. Never punish her for being protective as this may escalate the aggression. Try teaching her tricks or tasks, get her a Kong toy to keep herself entertained, even consider a slow feeder or a puzzle feeder to make her work and think about how to get food and treats and therefore keep her mind occupied with matters other than who's in the next back yard. Consistent exercise (walking on a leash is great) and some basic behavior training could make a big difference. Spaying her could also help keep her from wanting to roam quite so much. As she gets older her activity level will probably decrease some as well.

It shouldn’t scare her further away but it should keep her inside the boundaries. I would keep the level on low to keep her from becoming scared to go in the yard. This is a very frustrating behavior to have to deal with. Sometimes invisible fence works. Other times a tie-down or run system is effective. Another solution is do you have a trainer work with you and your dogs in your home to address this issue.
