My dog has Ehrlichia from a tick. Is her Doxycycline treatment right?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | spayed | 1 year and 4 months old | 69 lbs

Hello, My 2 yea told golden retriever started being very lazy about 3 days ago. We found a pretty large tick on her bed the second day. I took her to the vet and they did some blood work and all, it came back pretty normal. They tested her with a test called Fissisi (Tripple test) The one that was positive was "EHR". They gave me some medicine that she needs to take for about 2 weeks. 3 pills a day. Called "Doxiciclina Calox". Her current temp is 103.5. Does this sound right?

Yes it sounds right. It seems Olivia is affected by Ehrlichia Canis (transmitted by ticks). At the moment she has high temperature.
The doxycycline (antibiotics) needs to be given eventually for longer periods (3 weeks) if infection is particularly persistent.
Treatment plan seems right.
