Why do dogs eat tissues with cocaine residue? How dangerous is it?

Wow, this is a tough situation! Crack cocaine is the more potent form of cocaine, and it is toxic to dogs. Dee Dee could accidentally come into contact with it by sniffing a table or a towel that has cocaine on it. I suppose there is always the possibility that she could be deliberately exposed to it by her owner. In dogs, it affects the brain and heart, and exposure to it can be deadly. It is not a safe environment for a dog to be exposed to; in addition, in environments where illegal drugs are used, there can be other problems such as abuse. Now I'm not saying this is the case here, but it could be a possibility. I agree this isn't a safe or healthy environment for her to be in, and it's not something she should be exposed to for her health and wellbeing. I would be in contact with the local SPCA to discuss the situation with them, and they can advise you on the legal measures that can be taken to protect her. If Noelani had ingested either meth or coke this morning, I would certainly have expected signs to develop by now (8 hours later). If the bag was well sealed and ingested whole, it may pass in her GI tract without her absorbing anything, but it is always safest to have her examined. We commonly see significant excitation with these drugs which can progress to heart or nervous system problems including seizures. If Noelani starts developing any signs of hyperexcitability, I would recommend having her seen by a veterinarian immediately. The mucuous on the tissues probably tastes good to her, it tends to be salty. Poodles are extremely intelligent dogs and she may need something else to occupy her time. Make sure she's getting lots of playtime, long walks, runs, playing fetch, anything and everything to tire her out so she's less likely to misbehave. A tired dog is a happy dog. Also, consider getting her a kong toy or a rope toy (since the fabric texture is similar to the tissues, it may work as a substitute) to help occupy her at night. Consider a slow feeder or a puzzle feeder to make her work for treats or food to keep her mentally stimulated too.

Since you aren't sure if they ingested any or not, I'd keep an eye on them for now. If you see tremors, constricted pupils, drooling, excitement, vomiting, diarrhea, seizures, a racing heart rate, or twitching, take them into a vet immediately. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I don’t see anything overtly dangerous in them, though the green tea could have a little caffeine. In general, it probably didn’t hurt Cocoa but it’s not the best choice for a treat. Stick to dog treats in the future- especially if you’re not sure what something is because there are few things that are very dangerous to dogs (xylitol, macadamia nuts to name a few). Poor Jake! I assume Jake got the tissue after it had been through the full wash cycle, because if so most of the detergent should have rinsed out of it. If he didn't chew too much of the tissue I doubt he ingested that much of the chemicals. The chemicals tend to not be harmful in small quantities, so he should be fine. I would keep a close eye on him for the next 24 hours, he may develop a bit of an upset tummy. If he starts vomiting and can't stop or seems to getting dull I would visit the vet. Otherwise just keep an eye and give him plenty of water.
