Why is my dog eating bird poop? Could it be due to acidity or worms?

There is a parasite called giardia that can be transferred by eating bird poop. It is a 1 celled parasite, and not a worm. It tends to cause more diarrhea then vomiting , but can cause both. I would recommend taking a poop sample to your veterinarian. If Fluffy continues to vomit then I would recommend an x-Ray to look for the possibility that she swallowed an object. Coprophagia (eating poop) occurs in some dogs for no particular reason. It is not an indication of hunger or something lacking in their diet. There is a product available (in the US at least) called For-Bid that can help prevent dogs from eating poop. There is certainly a risk that KC could get worms from ingesting feces including cow manure. I would suggest keeping her on a monthly preventative that would prevent worm infestation.

The latter is highly unlikely if you're feeding your dog a high quality commercial food, since these generally provide all the nutrients your dog needs. That is an odd and concerning behavior. I would bring Rio into your local vet first just to rule out any health issues, as eating stool can sometimes indicate a nutrient deficiency. Removing the objects he is intentionally pooping on, and making sure there is a barrier between him and his stool can help reduce this behavior, but ruling out any underlying health issues is the best course of action.

This generally means a dog is nauseous for some reason - although some dogs just enjoy eating grass for unclear reasons (flavor, the dew on it, etc). I would recommend scheduling a check in with his vet for an exam and possibly blood work to make sure everything is looking ok. While eating deer and goose feces is gross it is probably not going to cause any illness. Most parasites are specific to the host. I suppose Giardia could potentially be transmitted in either deer or goose feces but I think it would be unlikely. His diet sounds balanced as long as the raw food is a commercially available balanced diet or comprises <10% of his total calories. The only way I know to get him to stop would be to restrict access - for some reason dogs seem to find the feces of most other species irresistible.

I would recommend taking a fecal sample to your local vet. That way they can look at it under the microscope and determine if she has worms and what dewormer she needs. A basic over the counter dewormer only really deworms again roundworms and hookworms. If Sandy has whipworms or coccidia she will need other types of dewormer. Eating the cow poop is most likely behavioral issue. I would recommend trying to keep her on a leash and away from this type of material. If you cannot than work on basic commands like no and drop it . that way if she starts to eat it you can deter her from it.
