This would not be a toxic dose of caffeine. I suppose the wrapper or the string could potentially become lodged in the gastrointestinal tract, but it would be very unlikely. I’d recommend monitoring for vomiting or a decrease in appetite and contacting your vet if noted.

I typically do not recommend giving dogs straight milk, and lower sugar ice creams can have artificial sugars (such as xylitol) which are toxic to dogs. Regular ice cream or cheese can be fine in small amounts but it based on each individual animal. If you want to give your dog anything dairy as a small treat, only start with one thing in very small amounts to see how Brody tolerates it and ensure he doesn't develop any vomiting/diarrhea.

The first signs you would be looking for are vomiting, diarrhea, agitation and/or hyper excitability. In general, it probably didn’t hurt Cocoa but it’s not the best choice for a treat. Stick to dog treats in the future- especially if you’re not sure what something is because there are few things that are very dangerous to dogs (xylitol, macadamia nuts to name a few). You might expect some diarrhea from ice cream, but that is likely the worst consequence she may have. Beagles have tough tummies in my experience since they tend to eat just about everything. Minor upset can typically be managed at home with a short fast followed by a bland diet fed in small, frequent amounts until symptoms resolve. Transition slowly to the regular diet afterwards.

I don't see in your profile what type of pet you have, but if it's a dog or cat they will likely be fine. Watch for signs of GI upset, as that can happen with any kind of new food (especially with higher fat content) but I suspect they'll be fine. However, I would recommend sticking with healthier treats to share with your pet and keeping ice cream and chocolate for yourself :-) Hope this helps!
