Is it normal for my dog to eat less after TPLO surgery?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | spayed | 75 lbs

My dog had TPLO surgery on Wednesday. She is eating very little but still eating every day. She eats some kibble, mostly boiled chicken, sweet potato and cold cuts. Should I be concerned or is this normal?

Yes, this can be normal. A TPLO is a big surgery and Coco will have some pain from it. It's good that she is eating, and her appetite should increase. If it's still low on Monday, bring her into her vet.
