My dog's ear hematoma is healing. Can I speed up the process?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Male | neutered | 10 years and 11 months old | 90 lbs

Tank went in today for a follow up for the hematoma in his right ear. It’s healing but I forgot to ask if there was anything I could do to speed up the healing process. So far it’s healing quickly and only about an inch is still puffy. He doesn’t seem like he’s in pain. His vet said it could be about another month or so before it’s all reabsorbed.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! There is nothing you can do to speed up the healing process- they body has its own speed for these things. Just continue the treatment plan the doctor prescribed and monitor it daily. If anything looks worse, notify the doctor as soon as you can. Good luck and kisses to Tank!
