My 100lb dog has dry skin. How much fish oil should I give her?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Newfoundland | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 3 months old | 40 lbs

Oakley is showing symptoms of dry skin. I heard fish oil is a great way to help them. What kind and how much should I give her? She is roughly 100lbs.

Great question! Oakley can get 1,000 mg fish oil containing 300 mg of EPA/DHA combined for every 30 pounds of body weight. For her weight, I would give her 3,000mg. You can get her dog specific fish oil pills from a pet store, but human ones are fine as well. I hope this helps!
