My pit mix is drooling, vomiting, and has green diarrhea. Is she sick?

It sounds like your pup is having some sort of gastrointestinal distress. This could be from a virus, parasites, something she ate, or a metabolic issue. Since she has had several episodes of the vomiting and diarrhea over the past week I think I would be a good idea to have her checked out. Regardless of whether you feel the vets in your town are "bad," Pitt needs medical attention. Not getting help for her is as troubling as suggesting the vets "don't care if animals die." If Pitt were a child with vomiting, diarrhea, and now rectal bleeding, I certainly hope you would take her to a doctor, even if you felt he or she wasn't the best in the town. So, pick the best of the "bad" vets and take Pitt in immediately. She may have eaten something, have a virus or bacterial infection, or be suffering from something more serious. The longer you wait, the more dehydrated and compromised she will become and the more treatment she will require to make her healthy again. I think it is unlikely that she has distemper and also unlikely that your other dog could get it. Don't wait - good luck and I hope Pitt gets better soon!

I'm sorry to hear that Loin isn't feeling well. Vomiting and diarrhea in a young dog can be caused by a variety of conditions, but the most common include parvovirus (unlikely if he has been fully vaccinated), gastroenteritis (stomach upset) from eating different foods, table scraps or treats, intestinal parasites, or another GI virus. Since his diarrhea looks quite liquid with possible blood in it (difficult to tell from the picture), I recommend taking Loin to his vet for evaluation. The vet will be able to run a test for parvovirus, stool sample to check for parasites, and any other indicated testing to get to the bottom of this issue. If Loin is dehydrated, he may need IV fluids. Until you can get to the vet, withhold food for 12-24 hours. After that time, talk to Loin's vet about starting him on a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken and white rice for a few days before gradually transitioning back to his normal dog food over another 5-7 days. I hope that Loin feels better soon!

Black stool could indicate blood in the stool. Vomiting, and black stool could be caused by parasites, change in diet, toxin ingestion, infectious viral diseases, blockage in the intestines caused by ingestion of a foreign body, or a mass/growth in the gastrointestinal tract. In the case of an unspayed female dog , pyometra (a potentially fatal infection of the uterus) is a possibility as well, and this is very concerning. Please have Cassie seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible, as vomiting and possible blood in the stool can lead to dehydration and anemia, and can be very dangerous if left untreated. I recommend taking in a fecal sample from Cassie to your vet as well, as that may aid them in making a diagnosis. Good luck, and I hope she feels better soon!

What a sweet face. I'm so sorry that Nala is sick. You need to get her to a vet ASAP. If she is unable to hold down water and she's very lethargic, a number of serious problems are possible. She may have a viral enteritis (Parvovirus), or an intestinal obstruction from a toy, rock, etc. Many causes are possible but the bottom line is that if she is lethargic and cannot hold down fluids, then at the very least she needs to have some help getting some hydration. Please seek an emergency vet as soon as you can. They can do an exam and see if she is painful in her abdomen, they may recommend a Parvo test, they may recommend blood work to check her electrolytes and blood sugar, and they may recommend X-rays, all depending on what their impressions are from physical exam and the information you give them. (vaccine history, any known toys she's chewed up lately, when did the vomiting start, is she having diarrhea as well, etc etc. ). They can give her fluids either intravenously (IV) or under her skin (sub-Q fluids, also called subcutaneous fluids) and can advise you on the next best steps for Nala. I am sorry I don't have a home solution for you here, but you really need to get her in to your vet ASAP. A lethargic puppy is never normal. (Tired after playing hard, yes. Lethargic, no.) It sounds like your dog is sick. The drooling can be due to nausea, and the lethargy, vomiting, anorexia, and diarrhea could be due to a severe GI illness, eating something rotten, pancreatitis, or a foreign body. I would take your dog into a vet right away for an exam, he sounds quite ill with all these symptoms, and he needs to be medically treated ASAP.
