Poor Nicole! There are a couple of things this could be, all of them very serious. I see that she isn't spayed. She could have a pyometra, which is a life threatening infection of the uterus. The uterus becomes so swollen with infection that the belly gets very large, and it causes rapid breathing from pain. If her uterus gets too large, it will rupture. A pyometra is fatal without treatments. She could also have heart disease causing a fluid build up in her belly and the rapid breathing, she could have a tumor in her abdomen that has rupture, or she could have eaten something toxic causing fluid build up in her belly. Finally, she could have bloat. Because I can't see her in person to rule out any of these conditions and the fact that they are very serious, it's best that she sees a vet now. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Rox. I recommend that he sees a veterinarian. He should be seen today if ar all possible. His symptoms are vague, but worrisome in a dog of his age. The veterinarian will examine him and determine if he is perhaps experiencing orthopedic pain or an internal issues. Testing such as blood work or x-rays may be warranted. Based on these results, treatment can be started to help him feel better. In the meantime, help him when he needs to move. You can use a towel under his hips as a sling to him get up and to walk. She could have ate something that has upset her stomach, she could have intestinal parasites or a more serious viral infection (vaccines are designed to prevent these). With her symptoms we would worry about things like a bleeding stomach ulcer, trauma due to ingestion of a foreign object, bleeding due to a disease such as Addison's disease, or a blood clotting disorder which can be caused by ingestion of a poison. With all these symptoms you describe I would recommend taking Lola to the vet right away, to an emergency vet if there is one in your area this evening. The vet can examine Lola and will likely recommend bloodwork and x-ray or endoscopy to try to pinpoint the cause of her symptoms and determine the best course of treatment.

These could be symptoms of a toxicity (e.g. if Shelby recently ate something toxic to dogs like raisins, chocolate, sugar free gum, antifreeze, aspirin); liver or kidney disease (both of which can cause nausea/vomiting); pancreatitis (vomiting/diarrhea due to an inflamed pancreas from eating table food), possibly a foreign body obstruction or other causes. All of these possibilities are potentially life threatening and the safest option is to take Shelby to a veterinary ER as soon as possible for bloodwork, radiographs and treatment as indicated based on the physical exam. As long as she is acting ok you could monitor her for additional signs. If she starts retching, seems uncomfortable, starts drooling, is painful, or the distension persists then she should be examined by a vet. Your vet can take an X-ray to evaluate her abdomen and determine the exact cause of her problem.
