Pug acting weird: drooling, swaying, not eating. What should I do?

Hello, sorry to hear about Mango. The not eating and drooling make me worry about some form of dental disease or being nauseous from an upset GI tract. These possibilities should be explored thoroughly by your veterinarian. Mango may need an oral exam and full blood work to start. He may eventually need an abdominal ultrasound. You can offer him a bland diet of plain white rice, skinless and boneless boiled chicken and low fat cottage cheese to see if he will eat some. If he is not better by tomorrow then have his veterinarian evaluate him. Hope this helps and best of luck

Drooling can be a sign of nausea or pain. Since she threw up and and is now not drooling, I would monitor her for further changes. If the drooling returns or she continues to vomit then i would get her seen. Also watch her appetite and monitor her stool for any diarrhea.

Hi, and thanks for your question. This sign could be compatible with an upper respiratory tract inflammation/infection or possibly to a tracheitis (inflammatory, allergic, infective). Other possible differentials would include heart problems. A clinical examination at your local veterinarian is essential to confirm these clinical suspicions and treat appropriately. X rays of her chest may be needed. Drooling can be a sign of nausea and this with a decreased activity level can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Rufus evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam. This sounds serious. It almost sounds like Biscuit may have had a type of seizure episode and drooling is a sign of nausea. Another possibility is a toxin ingestion leading to abnormal neurological signs. At any rate Biscuit should really see a vet to be evaluated right away. If he did invest a toxin, he will need to be detoxed to help rid the toxin and help stabilize his condition. If he had a seizure, then bloodwork analysis should be done to look for underlying causes and medicaitons to help stabilize him. Best of luck with your pet Biscuit. I hope he gets wel soon. The clinical signs you describe are concerning when they occur in a puppy as they can be seen with serious gastrointestinal infections such as Parvovirus. However, the waxing and waning aspect is unusual for something like parvovirus making it less likely. Other possibilities include intestinal worms and dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. The sooner these conditions are treated the better the outcome tends to be. You can start by changing his diet to see if it is possible that he has a sensitivity to his current diet perhaps. If no improvement, I recommend that you have Bruce evaluated by your veterinarian to check for these possibilities and to start therapy based on findings. The diarrhea could be due to a number of causes including dietary indiscretion (eating something he should not have or isn't accustomed to), bacterial imbalance in his GI tract, a parasite, or inflammation of his colon due to stress. The chronic swallowing problem is more concerning for gastroesophageal reflux, a problem with his lower esophagus such as megaesophagus, or even potentially cancer. His bad breath could be due to persistent bacteria in the mouth, a tooth problem, or potentially related to his swallowing trouble. I recommend having Diego evaluated by a veterinarian for these issues. A fecal test would help to determine the cause of his diarrhea and how to treat it. The swallowing problem is something that will require an oral exam and possibly x-rays of his neck and chest or a more advanced swallowing study with contrast material.
