My dog died at home. What should I do with his body and cremation?

Options that may be available to you for body care (depending on your municipality) include burial on your property, burial in a pet cemetery, cremation, or releasing the body to your animal control authority. I am sorry for your loss in Todo.

You can drop your deceased cat off at a local vet's clinic, and for a fee, they will send the body to be cremated. If you chose, you pay a bit more to have the ashes returned to you. I would call local vet clinic's to discuss having this done.

I am so sorry for your loss. You can bury him in your back yard and put her body to rest. Maybe you can even say a few words to bless her body as you lay her to rest. If this is not possible then you can try contacting your local animal shelter or low cost clinic (a quick google search should bring one up) to see if they will take her body for you for you. I will tell you that pets typically don't die peacefully at home- it is usually a rare occurrence. When it comes to making the decision about euthanasia, I try to have the owner think about good days and bad days. Being a golden owner myself, I know what makes them happy- food, attention, going on walks, treats, attention... When you think of all the things Jacky loves, is he still doing those things? Does he still come to the door when you come home, is he able to get up to go to the bathroom or is he pottying on himself, is he still interested in food? When the bad days outweigh the good days, his quality of life is poor. A friend once told me, it is better to make this decision a day too soon than a day too late. As I said it is a very difficult decision but you need to think about what would be in Jacky's best interest. I hope this helps. Kisses to Jacky!

I would recommend that you consider going to your veterinarian before making this decision. They would be able to gather more information, examine him and determine what would be best to proceed with always considering his quality of life. You will need to make an appointment with his veterinarian for euthanasia. There is not a humane method for doing this with any over-the-counter medications at home. He will need professional care. All you have to do is contact a clinic near you and schedule the procedure. Upon arrival, they can talk you through the process as each clinic uses a different combination of drugs for sedation/anxiety until the final injection. From there you will also have to determine what your after care wishes will be, private cremation or burial. I am sorry you are having to make this decision
