My puppy has diarrhea with yellow mucus after eating peanut butter.

From what your are describing it sounds like Snowball has a potential food allergy. it will not be confirmed until she has been on the hypoallergenic food for at least 6 weeks. But solid feces with only a small amount of mucus sounds like she is improving. Make sure not to give her any treats or table scraps while she is on her food trial as this will confuse the results.

Inflammatory bowel disease is not common in a puppy but it could be dietary intolerance from something in the diet. Other potential causes include Giardia, bacterial overgrowth, or pancreatic insufficiency. Your veterinarian likely has a ‘next step’ already planned. I recommend to discuss Mable!s diarrhea with your veterinarian. They may want to try an antibiotic and a probiotic along with a bland diet to see if that resolves the diarrhea. They may also recommend protozoa testing, a fecal culture and/or pancreatic enzyme testing. A diet trial with a hydrolyzed protein is another potential option. This way you know what exactly she is allergic to and can avoid whatever it is. It is possible she could have developed a chicken allergy, yes. These signs may be compatible with a persistent colitis. If no improvement is seen within 48hours of the new chicken and rice diet a check up at your local vet would be needed as antibiotics are in these cases required.

It is a good sign that she improved with a bland diet, I recommend returning to chicken and rice with a probiotic such as fortiflora for 48 hours then slowly adding a sensitive puppy food (royal canin gastrointestinal junior or calibra puppy is my preferred option). Add kibble at no more than 20% every 2 days to allow the gut to adjust

It sounds as though you have already tried most home remedies for Sasha's diarrhea. It is encouraging that her stool firms up with a bland chicken and rice diet. If she is eating, drinking, and acting normally, you could try adding a probiotic (such as Fortiflora) into her new diet. I'm glad that you've looked into limited ingredient foods, but if a food allergy is causing her diarrhea, it can take at least 6-8 weeks to see any improvement related to the diet change. If the mudpies persist despite the probiotics and all of your bland diet attempts, a vet visit is in order. Sasha may have a virus, stomach upset from eating unusual food or foreign material, parasites, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI), among other conditions. I hope that she's on the mend soon!
