My dog has diarrhea for over 24 hours, still eating. What now?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 9 months and 29 days old | 30 lbs

My dog has oral papilloma, and recently went to the vet and had them removed. She was not perscribed any medication, the vet said it would have to run its course. I’m not sure if this has anything to do with her recent condition. But she now has diarrhea, and it’s been over 24hrs. I don’t see any blood in it, and she still has an apitite. I’ve been giving her chicken and rice only (she’s always been a picky eater with her dog food so I decided to not even try and force it. Help!

I recommend that you have Luna evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I think you should recheck with your vet if Luna is still not wanting to eat and still having diarrhea with blood present. While it's possible that she just needs a little more time on the medications your vet might also want to run some additional tests to make sure nothing else is going on - blood work or a fecal analysis might be recommended.

Hello. This all depends on how Luna is feeling & doing otherwise. If she is eating & drinking & acting normal, you can try just fasting her for the next 8-12 hours, & then feeding her a bland diet consisting of cooked white meat chicken & plain boiled whole grain rice ( not instant or minute rice ). Feed her a couple of teaspoons every few hours & see how she does. If the diarrhea should worsen, contain more blood, or Luna starts vomiting, please see a veterinarian as soon as possible.
