Dog cut during grooming, vet closed. How to treat & use wound spray?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Poodle | Female | spayed | 4 years and 7 months old | 13 lbs

I was grooming my dog with clippers and accidentally cut her in the side of her back leg where there is a skin flap. It was bleeding but has now stopped. My vet is now closed. What can I do to treat the cut? I have trimmed the rest of the hair around the cut and she doesn’t seem to be licking it or concerned about it. I found MicrocynAH® Wound & Skin Pet Care at Petsmart should I use this on her to prevent infection?

Ouch, poor June! It's not a very big wound, so it doesn't appear it needs stitches to close. You can try this wound care on her, and keep an eye on it. Should it become red, swollen, warm to the touch, or there's pus, it's infected and she will need to see the vet. You may have to put an Ecollar on her to keep her from licking at it, and I will put a link below on how to make one at home. Best of luck, I hope this helps!
